UPCYCLE ~ DIY MOOD LIGHT LAMP

We're a little DIY obsessed around here, so we thought there was no better way to feed our appetite for DIY than to start our own segment on Theseeke's journal.
Light plays such a big part in setting the right mood for calm and restfulness.
It's so easy to create a beautiful sculptural lamp in whatever shape you desire, cut your cardboard shape and tape it to ensure it's stable and you are away!
We would love to see what you create, please tag us on instagram, email, get in touch on facebook or pin your project on pinterest!

Our starting point...
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
~ Painters tape or masking tape found here
~ Jointing Compound plaster found here
~ Paint of your choice (optional)
~ Fine sandpaper
~ Scissors
~ Palette or flat knife to apply plaster
~ A small box
~1 x Puck light (warm white is ideal) you'll find plenty online
Step 1:
~Decide on a design for your box

The most important thing to consider in the step is the location of your puck light and making sure it will fit. Give yourself about 1cm clearance to make sure your light fits in after plastering.
Our design was simple, we went with angular lines because we knew the plaster would give the lamp a more organic feel.
Step 2:

~Once you are clear on your design you can cut any pieces and then tape them in place
Step 3:
~ You can plaster now! You'll need to start with a thin coat, allow it to dry and then reapply. Keep doing this until you have achieved the coverage you are happy with. You can play with pattern and texture but we decided to keep it pretty simple.

Step 4:
Once fully dried it's time to sand your lamp, use a fine sandpaper until you have removed any out of place lumps and bumps. Just sand until you are happy with how it looks.

Step 5: (optional)
~ Paint your lamp with a flat pain choice of your colour. I used dulux hogsbristle quarter because I had it in the cupboard.

Step 6 :
Add Your puck light and admire what you have created!
